Why is business networking important to your company?

Have you recently started or have your own business and would like to increase your client database? Would you like to build long lasting building business relationships? There are so many advantages to Business Networking when it?s done properly as there is more to it than just going into a room and collecting business cards and handing out as many as you can. Everyone who owns a business should invest in learning the skill to business networking as it is a really fun and exciting way of profiling your business and yourself.

How to begin Business Networking?

Now you know why you would want to build networking into your marketing plan and what exactly it is but how do you go about beginning to network successfully?

Here are the Five Keys to Effective Business Networking to help get you started.

1. Look for meetings

There are many different types of business networks out there and you need to find ones that are right for you. The types of business networking events you might come across are: formal to informal, women only to mixed and niche to all types of businesses. You will also find that some require a membership fee and some are pay as you attend.

2. Have an elevator speech and 60 seconds ready

This is your ?vocal advert? for your company and very important as you want to grab the attention of every person you talk to. Practise them at home before you go to the networking event.

3. Be confident

Confidence in the way you talk, stand and greet other people will help you build trust. Behaving confident shows that you have faith in yourself and your company.

?4. Be prepared

Remember to take?..

Plenty of business cards and other promotional material

A map and directions of where you are going

Have a 60 seconds and elevator speech rehearsed

5. Follow up

So having gone to the meeting you have left with a pile of business cards so now what? Arrange one to one meetings with the people you want to learn more about by emailing them and arranging a time. Think ?how can I or can I help this person? rather than ?What can I sell to them? This is where you start to build your business relationships and your reputation.
