I was an English major in college. I'm sure you've run into a few of us jangling nickels around in tin cups as we panhandle on the subway, but what you might not know is many of us have a dirty little secret: we haven't read nearly as many books as you think we have. Sure, we ply on an image of literary superiority, but the fact is, there's a significant amount of us who haven't read The Lord of the Flies or The Jungle cover to cover.
