NSCS: Fantasy Fast Track ? Charlotte | RubbingsRacing.com

By DJ DeSpain

Fantasy Fast Track picks are styled on Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Auto Racing. Fantasy pool styles vary so adjust your picks accordingly to your league rules.

Be sure to get a nap early Sunday afternoon this week because it?s time for the longest race of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. My suggestions this week may come as surprises, but it?s all about strategy in saving starters for later in the season when you really need them the most!

Group A

Carl Edwards ? He has yet to win a points race at Charlotte, but after picking up a win at last week?s All-Star Race, Edwards is in a good position to pick up the trophy again this week. Despite not having a regular win here, he has 4 top-5?s and 7 top-10?s in his 12 starts at Charlotte.

Alternate Pick: Matt Kenseth ? Cousin Carl may not have a win at Charlotte, but teammate Kenseth got one back in 2000. In addition, Kenseth has a pretty good average at cookie cutter tracks like Charlotte, an 11.92 average finish, second to Jeff Gordon?s 11.08 average.

Group B

Joey Logano ? Logano would be a good pick to use this week in Group B to save your other drivers for later. Why? Because Logano has the best average finish of all active drivers, an 8.5 in his 4 starts, Johnson with his 6 wins has an 9.8 average finish.

David Reutimann ? Another driver with not many opportunities to use as a starter pick, but Charlotte is one of Reutimann?s better tracks, especially after his 3rd place finish last weekend at the All-Star Race. Winning the rain-shortened 600 in 2008, he has finished in the top 15 since then. Another good factor, he has a 99.4% lap completion in his 8 starts.

Alternate Pick: Kasey Kahne ? With the exception of the blown engine at Dover, Kahne is picking up momentum this season with the 2 top-5?s in a row he got at Richmond and Darlington. At Charlotte, he won both races in 2006, got another 600 win in 2008, and has had top-15 finishes in the two 600?s since.

Group C

Casey Mears ? Winner of the 600 back in 2007 driving for Hendrick, since then he?s been stuck in the back with the exception of a 7th place finish in the fall of 2009. His best finish so far this season is 18th at Phoenix, but the team has fought hard to be in the top-35 owner points.

Alternate Pick: Paul Menard ? Menard hasn?t lived up to the pre-season hype yet but he does have 2 top-5?s so far, which puts in ahead of his group C peers. This is his first start in Charlotte racing Childress equipment.
