Church Outlines Plan To Restore South Side of Johnson City

Members of the Sarah Jane Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Johnson City want to help restore the south side of their community.
? ?
On Sunday they kicked off their "Restoration Wednesdays" program.? The plan is to have volunteers meet every Wednesday evening from six to eight at Floral Park with clean up supplies and tools in hand to help those in need. Organizers say the concept is a simple one that they hope will restore the sense of goodwill America needs to turnaround.?

"In the beginning of the initiative this summer we'll be asking residents what they need,? refer them to our website where they would tell us what help they need and then send volunteers to help whether it's painting or porch repair.? We want neighborhoods to be neighborhoods.? We want children to be able to play outside and parents won't be in fear of what they're going to encounter." said Deacon Patricia? Cardin.

They'll also be offering 50 dollar gift certificates to families for every two hours they spend improving the front of their homes.
