Demi Moore Leaves Rehab, Now On Vacation
Actress Demi Moore is no longer in rehab and reportedly seeking some R & R by taking a little vacation, according to PEOPLE. Let’s hope that she got the help she needed and is on her way to feeling 100% again. Last year was quite hellish for Demi, to say the least. In September, she would have celebrated six years of marriage to her husband, Ashton Kutcher. As we all know, the two did not spend that weekend together, instead her soon to be ex-husband had a fling (allegedly) with a gal in a San Diego hotel room. She came forward with the deets on the so-called dirty deed and things went downhill for Moore and Kutcher from there. It was pretty sad, but not too surprising as there were previous whispers of Kutcher’s infidelity the year prior. After months of speculation, Demi finally announced in November that she would be divorcing Ashton. Photos of Moore looking gaunt had friends worried about her health and undoubtedly the stress of events that had transpired in the last several months had taken a toll. Nicollette Sheridan Gets Emotional on Stand During Desperate Housewives Trial (omg!)
The drama has gone from Wisteria Lane to the courtroom.
On Friday, Nicollette Sheridan took the stand during the trial against Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, whom she is suing. She alleges he fired her because she complained that he attacked her on set.
Cherry's attorney Adam Levin argued Sheridan has changed her story, claimed at one point that Cherry "slapped" her and on another that he had "hit" her.
"I don't know why they're different," Sheridan said heatedly, according to E! Online. "I said from the beginning that Cherry hit me. I am not sure why the word slapped is in there."

According to Deadline, Levin later said that Cherry did indeed "tap" Sheridan on the head, but did not strike her. He also pointed out that Sheridan was never a star on Desperate Housewives, noting the salary differences between her and co-stars Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Eva Longoria. He also said Sheridan never joined in the group shot during the show's opening sequence.
Levin then pointedly played a video montage of every character every killed off the show ? all 48 of them ? further demonstrating that Sheridan was one of many axed by the show.
Following the session, Sheridan's lawyer addressed reporters, accusing the defense of purposefully trying to elicit an emotional response from Sheridan on the stand.?Sheridan is expected back on the stand Monday.

Job Description
The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the highest ranked scientific research organisations in the world. The Headquarters Laboratory is located in Heidelberg (Germany) and the outstations are in Grenoble (France), Hamburg (Germany), Hinxton (UK) and Monterotondo (Italy).
EMBL is seeking a Scientific Communications Officer to support the EMBL Director General (DG) in a variety of communication related activities. The post holder will report jointly to the DG and the Director of International Relations. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing presentations, speeches and briefings for the DG for a variety of audiences ranging from scientific stakeholders to political delegates
- Gathering information about visiting delegations and meetings to be attended by the DG
- Preparing scientific, strategy and policy documents for the DG
- Supporting the DG in producing the EMBL Programme and Indicative Scheme and promoting it in the EMBL member states
- Writing reports and summaries of internal and external meetings where required
- Following developments at EMBL and networking with staff in all sectors to ensure information flow to and from the DG
- Supporting the International Relations team in member state relations, the drafting of policy papers and other tasks if required
- Supporting the collection of annual statistics and performance indicators at EMBL
Qualifications and Experience
A degree in life sciences and some relevant experience preferably in an international setting are required. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and communication skills. (S)he will be capable of communicating complex scientific, strategic and political concepts to different target audiences, ranging from scientists over policy-makers to the media. Experience in an international organisation and the field of communications or international relations is an asset.
As well as being self-motivated and able to work independently, candidates should have outstanding interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively as part of varying teams. Ability to work fast and to deadlines and to handle a number of tasks simultaneously is essential.
A very good knowledge of MS Office applications, in particular the presentation software packages Powerpoint and Keynote, email and internet applications is required. Applicants should have excellent written and oral English skills. Knowledge of the other official EMBL languages, French and German, is advantageous. International travel will be required.

Ometepe enters digital era
Thousands of school children and their families living on the volcanic island of Ometepe were ushered into the digital age yesterday thanks to an ambitious effort by Nicaragua?s Zamora Ter?n Foundation to provide special educational laptops to all elementary school students in the country.
In an effort to boost primary school enrollment, reduce poverty and close the digital divide in Nicaragua, the Zamora Ter?n Foundation yesterday handed out 5,000 XO laptops to all primary school students and teachers in Altagracia, Ometepe.
The massive laptop giveaway makes Ometepe the first ?digital island? in Latin America, according to Zamora Ter?n Foundation, a nonprofit group founded as part of LAFISE BANCENTRO?s corporate responsibility efforts.
The XO laptops do not allow unlimited Internet navigation?a cyber-surfing block in place to prevent students from accessing inappropriate websites or wasting time on Facebook. ?
The free, island-wide wireless connection is made possible by Amnet telecommunications, which has installed four large transmission towers in the urban centers of Ometepe, as well as 32 smaller antenna points at all the primary schools.
All teachers were also given laptops installed with teacher-training programs, to help them stay a step ahead?or at least on pace?with the children.
According to the Zamora Ter?n Foundation, each laptop will benefit six people?the average size of a Nicaraguan household.
?This is something that is very important for the children and population of our island?a day for the history pages of Ometepe,? Aurora Elena Alvarez, vice mayor of Altagracia, told The Nicaragua Dispatch. ?First we become an UNESCO island biosphere reserve, and now a digital island.?
Since 2009, the Zamora Ter?n Foundation?an organization dedicated to helping children from low socioeconomic backgrounds receive the tools they need for a quality education?has implemented the ?One Laptop Per Child Program? in 12 departments of Nicaragua. To date, the foundation has handed out a total of 26,000 XO laptops throughout Nicaragua, in communities in Managua, Masaya, Chontales, Carazo, Le?n, Boaco, Chinandega, Matagalpa, Rivas, the RAAN and the RAAS.
The goal is to handout 500,000 laptops by the year 2015, in an effort to help Nicaragua meet its Millennium Development Goals.
The XO laptop program is considered exemplary in the world.

Steven Sipek of Loxahatchee loves his tigers and leopards, but they bring him no end of trouble. On Monday he found himself briefly jailed and his three big cats seized, the latest in a long series of disputes with state and federal wildlife authorities.?
It turns out Sipek, known during his acting career as the ?Spanish Tarzan,? had had a federal permit revoked that allowed him to keep the cats. State officials cited numerous ?caging deficiencies? and pointed to a history of animal escapes and bites. A state wildlife official said Sipek ?lived among them and they lived among him.??
Sipek, who attracted international media attention in 2004 when his pet tiger ?Bobo? escaped and was shot dead by a state wildlife officer, says he worries for his cats and will fight in court to get them back.?
