New 2013 Ducati Monster Diesel Leaking Oil

I rode my new ride home from the dealership (~35km) and noticed drops of oil on the floor of my garage after I parked it, which concerned me. I took it out again a few hours later thinking it wouldn't get any worse and that I'd take it to the dealership on Monday to see where the leak is coming from....however, after coming back home I noticed a ridiculous amount of oil leaking out from the right side of the motorcycle in what I imagine to be the oil reservoir.

I rode the motorcycle a bit harder, but well under 6000 RPMs as per break-in instructions, which caused more oil to leak than earlier. I tried cleaning off the oil to find out where the oil is leaking from and even tried tightening bolts, but I didn't find any that were loose.

Any thoughts appreciated as I'd like to go riding tomorrow...the dealership is closed on Sundays.

Ratio of U.S. youth murders committed by guns increasing: study

By Yasmeen Abutaleb

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Nearly four times as many young murder victims in the United States were killed by firearms than by other methods such as stabbing, strangling or poisoning, in the past 30 years, according to a study released on Thursday.

The study comes three months after the U.S. Senate failed to pass several gun control measures, including expanded background checks on gun purchasers and bans on assault weapons and high-capacity gun magazines.

That effort followed a mass shooting in December at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, in which a gunman killed 20 children and six adults.

The study, from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, looked at the homicide rate for people aged 10 to 24 years from 1981 to 2010. Proportionally, guns were responsible for more murder deaths in the final period of the study, with nearly 4,000 of the 4,800 young murder victims in 2010 killed by firearms.

"This shows a growing need to focus on youth violence as a separate issue and focus specifically on the role played by firearms," Josh Sugarmann, executive director of the Violence Policy Center, a non-profit research and advocacy organization that studies gun violence, told Reuters.

The study also found that the youth murder rate peaked in 1993, then declined and hit a 30-year low in 2010, although the rate of decline has slowed since 2000.

"It's absolutely good news that we're seeing a decline and seeing a 30-year low, but this also shows us that we need to continue and increase our efforts," Corinne David-Ferdon, a behavioral scientist in the CDC's Violence Prevention and Injury Center and one of the study's authors, told Reuters.

"We need to continue and re-energize some of the declines we've seen over time and expand research and the use of prevention practices," she added.

The study found that males, people aged 20-24 and black people are murdered at higher rates than the overall average.

The study points to prevention strategies that it says are scientifically proven to reduce violence against youth, including school-based programs that stress communication over violence; parents or guardians setting rules and closely watching children's activities; and improving safety and offering children more social opportunities in their communities.

"We've demonstrated that we've made a lot of progress in reducing youth violence, but the study also points out that this progress is slowing and homicide is still a leading cause of death," David-Ferdon said.

"It's important we get these programs in place early in young people's lives to help disrupt the development of violent attitudes and behavior in early childhood and middle childhood."

'Big Brother's' Aaryn: I didn't say anything racist

TV

Monty Brinton / CBS

Aaryn Gries.

Her unabashedly racist comments have been heard on the "Big Brother" online live feeds, and just a few days ago, several of Aaryn Gries' most offensive lines made it to the prime-time show. But according to this season's most notorious houseguest, she hasn't said a single racist thing.

Sure, slams against Korean-American and African-American players left fans so outraged that they urged CBS to remove her and others who've made similar racist, homophobic and sexist statements from the competition. And the modeling agency Gries was signed to, Zephyr Talent, was so troubled by what they witnessed they dropped her. But, hey, what do they know?

Actually, it's really more of a case of what Gries doesn't know. Sequestered in the "Big Brother" house, she remains unaware of the fallout from her remarks. In fact, it seems she doesn't even remember the remarks she's made at all.

As seen on the live feed Tuesday, fellow houseguest Amanda Zuckerman met up with Gries in the Head of Household bedroom and warned her that some in the house were upset about things she's said. During the meeting, which has been seen only by live feed viewers so far, Zuckerman urged Gries, "friend-to-friend," to "be mindful" of what she says in the future and added that a general apology "would go a really far way" to making amends.

Just one problem: Gries can't see what she could possibly need to make amends for.

"That's the most obnoxious, annoying thing I've ever heard," she said after Zuckerman made the suggestion.

When she learned that one of the things in particular that bothered African-American player Candice Stewart was that when Stewart asked Gries what her middle name was, Gries shot back, "Shaniqua."

"That had nothing to do with anything," an obviously annoyed Gries said. "The reason I said that was that it was the first name I thought of. I'm sick of being grilled about my life."

She then firmly decided that she wouldn't apologize for anything.

"I haven't said anything racist," Gries insisted.

And besides, she feels that she's had a lot to deal with too, what with people commenting on her blonde hair.

"The call me Barbie and say all sorts of (expletive) about me being blonde all the time," she ranted to Zuckerman. "So what's the difference?"

As for whether or not Gries' rant makes it to the show, that remains to be seen. The next episode of "Big Brother" airs Thursday at 9 p.m. on CBS.

'The Bridge' Review: A Dramatic Crossing, Worth the Congestion

By Tim Molloy

NEW YORK (TheWrap.com) - When a show opens with a sudden blackout and an order to seal the border, you know it's not going to have any problem being dramatic.

"The Bridge," which debuts tonight on FX, may even pile on more drama than it needs. The FX murder mystery feels tenaciously rooted in the real world, forcing us to confront our own feelings about immigration and American privilege even as our eyes pop at a truly compelling crime.

Based on the Scandanavian series "Bron" and brought to FX by showrunners Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid, "The Bridge" features Diane Kruger and Demi?n Birchir as cops from opposite sides of the U.S.-Mexican border - and the titular bridge - united by their efforts to solve a grisly killing.

Actually, two murders. The series begins with the discovery of a dead body at the exact point on the border where El Paso and Juarez countries meet. In one of the show's many smart twists, one crime quickly turns into two.

There's already enough story from the setup to fill out a series. But "The Bridge" keeps going, with a pilot that feels as crowded as the busiest border crossing. It can feel like a little too much, but after packing so much information into its premiere, the show will never have to be this congested again.

We're a little oversold, for example, on the oddness of Kruger's character, Det. Sonya Cross. Though the show doesn't tell us in the first episode about her Asperger's, it's fairly clear from the beginning that she's a little off. Her obsession with logic and proper procedure makes Mr. Spock's seem perfectly reasonable.

It's hard to believe anyone who's as cold as she is with the husband of a murder victim could be employed as a homicide detective anywhere. Fortunately, "The Bridge" has Ted Levine to make us believe. The "Silence of the Lambs" villain is convincing as a boss who has sheltered and nurtured Cross - and probably kept her on the job - despite her obvious flaws. The chance to see Buffalo Bill is reason enough to watch "The Bridge." He holds the show together even when Cross' questionable character threatens to derail it.

So does Birchir. As a cop in corrupt Juarez, he needs to accept a series of compromises to do his job - including letting countless murders go unsolved. But he's as soulful as Cross can be robotic, and he becomes our surrogate as we try to understand and empathize with her, despite her apparent lack of empathy for others.

This isn't so much a Spock vs. Kirk hot-and-cold dynamic as one between someone who needs rules to feel at peace and someone who needs to break them to survive. They face a killer who seems to delight in mocking protocol, making him a perfect foil for both. He claims to be committing murders in service of social commentary.

We learn about the killer's supposedly high-minded motives after a tense finale featuring an excellent Matthew Lillard as a sketchy reporter. But we don't need the race and class issues spelled out: They're painfully resonant.

Like FX's "The Americans," "The Bridge" asks us to explore our own prejudices and suspicions. But "The Bridge" doesn't give us the benefit of historical hindsight, like the '80s-set "Americans" does. The biases of these Americans are still going strong, and we don't yet have the benefit of history to recover from them. We're in darkness, and we seem stuck here.

"The Bridge" premieres tonight on FX at 10/9 c.

Doing it her way, France's Bartoli wins Wimbledon

LONDON (AP) ? Ever since she was a kid, practicing until midnight with her father, Marion Bartoli went about playing tennis her own way.

The two-handed strokes for backhands, forehands, even volleys. The hopping in place and practice swings between points, which help her focus. The unusual setup for serves ? no ball-bouncing, arms crossed, right wrist resting on her left thumb before the toss.

Whatever works, right? This unique Wimbledon, appropriately enough, produced a unique champion in the ambidextrous Bartoli, the 15th-seeded Frenchwoman who won her first Grand Slam title by beating 23rd-seeded Sabine Lisicki of Germany 6-1, 6-4 Saturday in an error-filled, one-sided final that was far from a classic.

"It's always been a part of my personality to be different. I think being just like the other one is kind of boring. I really embrace the fact of being a bit different and doing something that not everyone is," said the 28-year-old Bartoli, who plays tennis right-handed but signs autographs with her left. "I actually love that part of my game, being able to have something different."

    She certainly stands alone.

This was Bartoli's 47th Grand Slam tournament, the most ever played by a woman before earning a championship.

She is the only woman in the 45-year Open era to win Wimbledon playing two-fisted shots off both wings (Monica Seles, Bartoli's inspiration for that unusual style, collected her nine major titles elsewhere).

Until Saturday, it had been more than 1? years since Bartoli won a tournament at any level.

Until these last two weeks, Bartoli's record in 2013 was 14-12, and she had failed to make it past the quarterfinals anywhere.

Asked how to explain how she went from that sort of mediocre season to winning seven matches in a row at Wimbledon, never dropping a set, Bartoli briefly closed her eyes, then laughed heartily.

"Well," Bartoli said, spreading her arms wide, "that's me!"

Unlike Lisicki, a first-time major finalist who was admittedly overwhelmed by the occasion and teared up in the second set, Bartoli already had been on this stage, with the same stakes. Back in 2007, Bartoli won only five games during a two-set loss to Venus Williams in the Wimbledon final.

"I know how it feels, Sabine," Bartoli said during the on-court trophy ceremony. "And I'm sure, believe me, you'll be there one more time. I have no doubt about it."

Bartoli became the first woman in the Open era to win Wimbledon without facing anyone seeded in the top 10 ? her highest-rated opponent was No. 17 Sloane Stephens of the United States in the quarterfinals. That's in part because of all of the injuries and surprises, including exits for No. 2 Victoria Azarenka, No. 3 Maria Sharapova, No. 5 Sara Errani, No. 7 Angelique Kerber, No. 9 Caroline Wozniacki and No. 10 Maria Kirilenko by the end of the second round.

Lisicki, meanwhile, used her game built for grass ? fast serves, stinging returns, superb court coverage ? to end defending champion and top-seeded Serena Williams' 34-match winning streak in the fourth round. Lisicki also eliminated past major champions Francesca Schiavone and Sam Stosur, along with No. 4 Agnieszka Radwanska, last year's runner-up.

But Lisicki was an entirely different player Sunday, rattled by every little thing, even the walk downstairs from the locker room to Centre Court and the final-afternoon ritual of players carrying bouquets of flowers when they enter the arena.

"Everything is a little bit different. You've been here for two weeks; the feeling, atmosphere, gets different," said Lisicki, who is based in Bradenton, Fla., and marked her rare winners Saturday with yells of "Yes!" or "Come on!"

"I felt fine this morning, but it's an occasion that you don't get every day," she said. "So it's something completely new for me. But I will learn and take away so much from it."

When play began under a sunny sky, it was Bartoli who looked jittery, double-faulting twice in a row to drop the opening game.

Then it was Lisicki's turn to serve, and she returned the favor, double-faulting on break point ? her last serve barely reaching the bottom of the net ? to make it 1-all.

From there, Bartoli took over, winning 11 of 12 games, and doing exactly what her father, a doctor who taught his daughter how to play, used to hope and imagine could happen in such an important match. Standing inside the baseline ? another sign of individuality ? Bartoli got back serves that topped 110 mph. She won the point on 9 of 11 trips to the net. She dictated the flow of baseline exchanges, thinking one or two moves ahead, the way one tries to do in chess, her father's favorite pastime.

"I was doing everything well," Bartoli said. "I was moving well. I was returning well. I mean, I really played a wonderful match."

It was not exactly the greatest theater or a "How To" guide for young players. Bartoli and Lisicki combined for more unforced errors, 39, than winners, 36. They finished with 11 doubles-faults and eight aces. When Lisicki double-faulted twice in one game while getting broken to trail 4-1 in the second set, she covered her face with her racket as her eyes welled.

"I was a bit sad that I couldn't perform the way I can," Lisicki said.

Lisicki already was on the precipice of defeat when she finally did look like someone who entered the day with a 19-4 career record at Wimbledon ? the afternoon's lone, brief moment of intrigue and competitive tennis. Facing match points while serving at 15-40 with a scoreline of 6-1, 5-1 in Bartoli's favor after only 67 minutes, Lisicki suddenly remembered how to play again.

She hit a swinging backhand volley winner to erase one match point, then a 106 mph service winner to take care of the next. Another followed shortly, and this time Bartoli put a backhand into the net. At deuce, Lisicki smacked a 115 mph service winner and a 114 mph ace to hold serve for the second time in seven tries.

Bartoli, who said she napped for a bit and danced to music in the locker room beforehand to stay loose, now was the one who was tight. With the crowd roaring after nearly every point, wanting more match for their money, Lisicki broke to 5-3, then held to 5-4.

Lisicki put together third-set comebacks against Williams and Radwanska, but could she really dig herself out of this hefty deficit?

No. Bartoli served out the match at love, using that one-of-a-kind serve to close with a 101 mph ace that hit a line and sent chalk dust spraying.

"You can't describe that kind of feeling. You cannot put (into) any words what I feel in this moment," said Bartoli, who won earned 1.6 million pounds (about $2.4 million). "I can't believe I won Wimbledon this year. We'll have to see the pictures, to see the match again on DVD, to ... realize it."

    So might everyone else.

Soon after that final ace, she was climbing atop an overhang to get to the guest box for hugs with her father, Walter, and other members of her entourage, including French Fed Cup captain Amelie Mauresmo (the last player from France to win a Grand Slam title, at Wimbledon in 2006) and hitting partner Thomas Drouet (who began working with Bartoli in May after splitting with a player, Australia's Bernard Tomic, whose father faces court charges in Spain for allegedly assaulting Drouet).

"She fooled a lot of people during this fortnight," Mauresmo said.

Bartoli didn't let anything faze her, including a blister on her right big toe she said was the size of a quarter and left her sock bloody. When Lisicki took an extended bathroom break after the first set, Bartoli ran out to the baseline under the Royal Box and, facing a wall, jumped in place, did deep-knee bends, took practice cuts.

All of her idiosyncrasies were on display Saturday. The raised fist to celebrate pretty much every point she won. The sprints to the sideline at changeovers. And, most importantly of all, those flat forehands and backhands, putting her racket on balls while they're still low to the ground.

At 7?, she watched Seles beat Steffi Graf in the 1992 French Open final, and Bartoli decided ? with Dad's encouragement ? to adopt the double-handed technique. Her father devised all sorts of original training methods, including taping tennis balls to the heels of her shoes so she'd be forced to stay on her toes. He also used balls of varying colors and sizes to work on hand-eye coordination.

"All the pros were saying that I was completely crazy when they used to see me working with Marion," said Walter Bartoli, who got to town Friday. "But I kept believing in myself ? and Marion."

    Good thing, too.

No matter what else happens, she will always be the winner of the 2013 title at the All England Club.

"Just hearing 'Wimbledon champion,' that kind of sounds good to me," Bartoli said, rocking forward in her chair and chuckling. "I wanted that so badly. ... It was like: Dare to dream. I kept dreaming. I kept my head up. I kept working hard. And it just happened."

PandaWhale's Slow And Steady March To Relevance

PandaWhaleThere is an interesting shift occurring in consumer websites and apps where users perform micro-work that reshapes experiences. Classic examples of this are how Pinterest users are grabbing images from the web, personally reorganizing them, and, in the process, building a new image search engine, much like Google Images. And some would argue even better and more relevant. Or consider Instapaper and Pocket users who grab content to read later, stripped free of bloated ads and other unnecessary information. There are more and more services fitting into this trend, which I?ve called a ?web of extraction,? and one emergent property that?s doing this in a novel way is one you may not have heard of: PandaWhale.
