Terrarium For A Gecko Pet | Let's Save Exotic Pets

Possibly, you still have doubts in your mind. To look for answer, you may like to find it at Reptile Food Approx

The Leopard Gecko emanates from an arid land and is heavily burdened by the sun kind of environment. Youngster is very strong and tough however, you need optimum conditions to live on properly.
The minimum measurements a terrarium to hold one leopard gecko is 50 cm wide and 45 cm high.

A good choice with the soil is porous substrate for instance coconut fiber, with a bit of perlite to keep up moisture. The biggest thing should be to steer clear of the sandy substrates, since the animal can swallow sand in terms of hunting their food ( live prey in motion), that may cause intestinal obstruction.

Maybe, some things left ambiguous to you. Discover the answers now at Silk Ficus

Give you a cave for shelter and a qpltghfcx ?drinking fountain with fresh water. The temperature need to be relatively high and need to be split up into two zones, one for heat around 35 degrees and a cool one of about 28 approximately. To keep the temperature, use different heating systems. The heating cable, for example, is very effective which enables it to camouflage in the substrate so they won?t seen. Similarly we could employ a heating rock, that could warm the animal while decorating the terrarium.

Both systems have a heat radiating material but does not reach excessive a temperature which could burn the skin in the reptile. Since reptiles lack thermoregulatory system (usually do not notice should they be burning) is vital to always employ this type of material.
Conversely, humidity is essential, especially during summer. To guarantee adequate moisture (about 50-60%) make sure to maintain your substrate moist simply by using a manual sprayer.

Alternatives lighting, it is suggested that an animal has 10 to 12 hours of daylight. The roof from the tank have to have two parallel tubes and ultraviolet dichroic halogen inside the center which could give the UV lights since the sun would.

1983 Okla. murder suspect captured at Wash. border (AP)

SEATTLE ? A suspect in a 1983 killing in Oklahoma was arrested when he showed up at the U.S. border in northwestern Washington and tried to enroll in a "trusted traveler" program for frequent border crossers, authorities said Monday.

Suhail Shanti of Burnaby, British Columbia, was wanted on a first-degree murder warrant issued in LeFlore County, Okla. He was arrested Friday when agents at the Pacific Highway Port of Entry in Blaine took his fingerprints as part of the interview process for the border crossing program and checked them against a nationwide database.

Agents confirmed the warrant with officials in Oklahoma, arrested the 48-year-old and turned him over to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office pending his extradition.

"It's like, `You're kidding me ? you're under arrest,'" said U.S. Customs and Border Protection Chief Thomas Schreiber. "For them to walk in like this is just unbelievable."

Few details of the killing were immediately available. Marion Fry, LeFlore County's first assistant district attorney, told The Associated Press that his office was digging the case file out of storage, but that it involved a homicide in the city of Poteau. The defendant failed to appear for trial and the warrant was issued in April 1984, he said.

At the time, Shanti and the victim were both international students at a junior college now known as Carl Albert State College, Fry said. He believed they were both originally from Morocco.

It was not clear if Shanti had obtained a lawyer or how long he had lived in Canada. A voice mail message left on a phone number listed for a Suhail Shanti in Burnaby was not immediately returned.

The program he was applying for is called NEXUS, a joint U.S.-Canadian effort to speed border crossings for frequent travelers who pass a background check. Participants are given a photo identification card for use at the border.

Schreiber said it's not the first time that participants or aspiring participants have been arrested. He recalled the 2008 case of Charles Green, a Blaine resident whose approved status was revoked after he was charged with failing to appear in court on a larceny charge. Green showed up in the NEXUS office to appeal the decision and was promptly arrested.

"I like to put people in handcuffs," Schreiber said. "It usually means there's been an injustice somewhere and we're helping to right it."

Avastin ? breast cancer, avastin fda, bevacizumab, brain tumor ...

avastinAbout a dozen ladies with breast cancer, some tearful, beseeched the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday to retain the approval of the drug Avastin as a therapy for that disease.

Testifying at a hearing with the F.D.A., the females explained that even though clinical trials may possibly not have shown a large benefit general from treatment method together with the drug, the medication does assist some women substantially and should be left accessible for them.

The hearing is getting held Tuesday and Wednesday to give Genentech, the drug?s producer, a chance to persuade the company to back down from the tentative selection manufactured in December to revoke the approval of Avastin as being a remedy for breast cancer.

The F.D.A. says that within the circumstance of Avastin, those subsequent studies did not affirm that Avastin was safe and efficient.

Cell phone of driver in Amtrak crash found (AP)

RENO, Nev. ? Workers wearing hazmat suits dug through burnt-out rail cars and twisted metal on Monday at the scene of a horrific collision between a tractor-trailer and an Amtrak train as new details surfaced about the spotty driving record of the man at the wheel of the truck.

Records from the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles revealed that truck driver Lawrence R. Valli, 43, of Winnemuca, received four speeding tickets since 2008, including three for driving a school bus over the posted speed limit in California in a 10-month period.

National Transportation Safety Board member Earl Weener said Valli was going "at a considerable speed" in a 70-mph zone before the crash, and added that federal investigators were examining the truck's wheels, tires and brakes for details on the exact speed and the truck's braking capacity.

Investigators are looking for clues into why he drove into the double-decker Amtrak train some 70 miles east of Reno even as the crossing's flashing lights warned him it was approaching. At least six people died and about 20 were injured.

One passenger remained unaccounted for, Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari said, though investigators aren't sure whether the person was among the 195 passengers on the train at the time of the crash.

"Everything is all blackened, and white and gray from the fire so it makes it very difficult to sort out the human remains from the rest," said Dennis Dirkmaat, a forensic anthropologist from Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., speaking from the accident site. "Rather than just pulling out bodies and trying to sort through them later, we're trying to note where they're located and trying to make sure we collect all the remains."

The Nevada Highway Patrol on Monday released the names of two passengers who were killed ? Francis Knox, 58, and her adopted granddaughter, Karly Knox, 18, of Seward, Neb.

The elder Knox was described by her pastor in Nebraska as a church-going woman who was well-known and volunteered in the youth ministry and at a community center and the Civil Air Patrol. She and her granddaughter, who was known to friends as Annie, were taking a relative back to California, where the family once lived.

"She always had a smile, and was willing to help out ? to do anything," said Lowell Myers, an associated pastor at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church who is serving as the family's spokesman.

The relative was able to escape the train with no serious injuries, Myers said.

Forensic anthropologists, law enforcement officials and federal investigators are trying to pinpoint why Valli, who was the sole occupant of the semi with two empty gravel trailers behind it, skidded the length of a football field in the heart of the Forty-Mile Desert before ramming into the rail car.

The Zephyr train, outfitted with a full glass observation car, was en route from Chicago to Emeryville, Calif., and had made several stops before beginning the long traverse through the Sierra Nevada to California. The big rig ran into the train around 11:25 a.m. Friday.

A co-worker in another semi outfitted to haul gravel watched helplessly as Valli skidded more than 300 feet before smashing square into the cars, sparking a massive fire that burned so intensely it delayed investigators' search of the wreckage that includes two torched cars and another that was badly burned.

The NTSB initially reported there were two co-workers in separate semis behind him, but changed that to one at a news conference Monday.

"I looked up north side and I saw smoke, and I looked down the other side and I saw flames and the side of the train ripped back like a sardine can," said Jim Bickley, a property manager from El Dorado Hills, Calif., who was on the train traveling home with his wife. "People were trying to jump out of the emergency windows and there was panic going on."

Records show Valli was issued a commercial driver's license in Nevada on May 6 of this year, said Tom Jacobs, spokesman for the Nevada DMV.

The records show Valli's school bus violations occurred July 6, 2008; Sept. 9, 2008, and May 12, 2009. It was not immediately clear where those citations were issued in California and whether children were in the buses. He was also ticketed on in August 2008 in California for not wearing a seat belt while driving a commercial vehicle.

Valli also received a speeding ticket on Sept. 22, 2009, in Alabama for exceeding the speed limit by 11-20 mph.

Trooper Chuck Allen said authorities would consider all factors as they investigated the cause of the accident, including fatigue, driver inattention, and drugs or alcohol, with toxicology and autopsy results due within days.

Weener said Valli's cell phone was recovered at the crash site and was being sent to NTSB's laboratory in Washington, D.C., to determine if it was a distraction. He said investigators want to know whether Valli was preparing to send a text message or talking to anyone at the time of the crash.

Investigators will examine the driver's professional commercial driving record closely, Weener said. They also planned to meet with his trucking company Tuesday and review the driver's medical history, training and experience.

Valli's sister, Jacquita Yu, 48, of Chino, Calif., said her brother had worked for John Davis Trucking Co. in Battle Mountain for the last six months or so and been a professional driver for 10 years.

"I can't believe in my heart that he wasn't paying attention. I can't accept that," she said. "He was only halfway through his shift and I can't believe he would fall asleep. He's so meticulous and he gets his rest. My thought is there was a mechanical difficulty with the vehicle."

Yu, who also is a professional driver, said her brother's life revolved around his 11-year-old daughter who lives in Reno. She described her brother, who grew up in the San Francisco Bay area and moved to Reno in the 1980s, as a wonderful father who worked hard to provide for his family and spent any free time he had outside with his daughter.

The crash also has raised questions about the safety record of Valli's employer.

Federal records reviewed by The Associated Press showed the Nevada Department of Public Safety has cited the company for crashes, unsafe driving, and most seriously, operating a truck with tire treads so exposed that it had to be taken off the road.

In that January inspection, authorities deemed that rig an imminent hazard to public safety. The company was also cited for two crashes in the last two years, including one in February 2010 that injured a person in Washoe County. Federal records do not detail who was at fault.

Weener said the company also was involved in a fatal single-vehicle accident last month, but provided no details.

The company did not immediately return a call or email Monday.

An official for the Nevada Motor Transport Association said the company is a responsible carrier and one of its top executives, John Davis, has long served on the association's board of directors. The family business has been expanding in the last few years to haul gold ore from the mines in northeastern Nevada, and has been hauling gravel since the 1970s.

"He's just pretty devastated for the incident and his heart goes out to everyone involved," said Paul Enos, the association's CEO. "When you look at Mr. Davis' records, he is a pretty safe carrier."

Big spender

Gucci, spices, fish, Mercedes

Worldwide sales of luxury goods are booming and predicted to keep on growing, but the history of luxury shows us just how much the concept of luxury has - and is - changing.

In Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace Hotel it's not only cash that people want to get their hands on quickly, they have a machine dispensing gold bars. Just in case you don't have any easily at hand to buy that Bentley.

Luxury is big business and it's not only among a wealthy few. The luxury goods market is expanding worldwide and is expected to rise by 8% and be worth a cool £164bn by the end of this year.

Nowhere more so is this happening than in China. There are now around 500,000 millionaires in the country and the Chinese buys 12% of all luxury goods in the world, according to Barclays Capital. By 2020 it's predicted to be the world's largest luxury goods market and account for 44% of all sales. By then the Chinese will be buying more luxury products than the entire world is now.

Rarity has always defined luxury, says historian Dr Michael Scott. It means things like gold will always be a sought after, but in ancient Greece it also meant a luxury envied and aspired to was meat. For thousands of years the main human diet was made up of fruits, cereals and vegetables and meat was a rarity.

fish

Expensive fish were viewed as "luxury goods" in ancient Greece

Fish also became a luxury available to the affluent in ancient Greece. In democratic Athens in the 5th Century BC everyone knew how much it cost and that made it the ultimate "luxurious consumption". This even spawned insults like "fish lover", which meant someone consumed by greed.

"Meat was a luxury which all Athenians could share in at big public sacrifices, but with fish you could really indulge yourself," says Dr Scott. "Being a fish lover became a political issue at the highest level, because Athenians believed if you showed yourself out of control in one area you were out of control everywhere.

"So if you couldn't control your desire for fish, or you had a liking for very expensive fish, the implication was you were probably morally corrupt and even possibly a tyrant in the making."

Extravagance and lust

In Britain in the Middle Ages spices were a luxury. They were expensive because they were shipped in from the East via new trade routes, along with fine cheeses and wines from the rest of Europe.

The church believed indulging in these items was a sin and introduced days of fasting to limit the eating of such foods. They also made the link between eating spices and "exotic" behaviour.

Dr Michael Scott
Luxury in Ancient Greece: Nothing in Excess? is on BBC Four Monday 27 June 2100 BST.Luxury in the Middle Ages is on the following week as part of BBC Four's Luxury Season

"When modern English first emerged in the late Middle Ages luxury did not mean excess or extravagance but lust," says Dr Scott.

This is because luxury was, and still is, about "stimulating the senses", says Prof Miri Rubin from the University of London.

"There are very ancient theories about how sense, body and the mind operates so being around beautiful things hearing, touching, tasting and so on all this has to do with your state of mind," she says in her book, Speaking in Luxury In The Middle Ages. "So luxury and sexual wiles are all bound up very powerfully."

The luxury brands of today came out of the time of austerity in the 1920s, when people returned to basic bespoke products. With not much money around and people wanted things to last. Craftsmanship and heritage became important and still are today.

After World War II prosperity flourished in the UK, but while the expanding middle classes wanted luxury they could not afford high-end items. So companies came up with a new set of smaller products including handbags, scarves, wallets and purses.

Crystal piano

The concept was about offering "accessible luxury" and it was a concept consumers embraced. Now 90% of women in Japan have a Louis Vuitton handbag. It is described as the "democratisation of luxury goods" - opening up the luxury market to the upper end of the mass market, say analysts Mintel.

This has helped not only fuel the boom in the luxury market at the "accessible" end but also at the high end, with the rich demanding more and companies coming up with ever more extreme items. Pink crystal piano anyone? For just £495,000 you could own one of the world's first range of crystal pianos, which also come in white and gold.

Did you know...
King of Death picture
In 1348 the Black Death hit Britain and almost half the population died. This meant the people who survived had a larger share of the wealthThe lower classes were better off so they could copy the rich, by dressing in a smilar fashion, copying their pointy shoes and leather sword sheaths and wearing furThe elite were distressed that you could no longer tell the rich from the lower classesIn 1363 The Act of Apparell was introduced by Parliament. It specified what every class of citizen could wear and even what food they could eat

So what luxuries will people be stimulating their senses in 10 years' time? Experts predict the market will be fuelled by consumers' "emotional connections", says Lucia Van Der Post, luxury lifestyle commentator and former editor of How to Spend It magazine.

In a speech to the Champagne Assembly, which is made up of champagne producers, she said luxury has evolved from the expensive trinkets and toys of yesteryear, to meaningful experiences with a genuine emotional dimension.

"The traditions of old luxury - the luxury of things - are awfully dull for new consumers. They want to be touched emotionally by their experiences, and there are new priorities, such as ethical concerns and sustainability.

Luxury lifestyle company Quintessentially is seeing this change. People want unique experiences to savour and remember, says co-founder Aaron Simpson.

"These have included closing the Sydney Harbour bridge in Australia, so a client could climb up and propose to his girlfriend. Luckily she said yes."

And Asia will be a major force in the market. It has now surpassed Europe's numbers of millionaires for the first time, with 3.3 million. These millionaires have a joint wealth of £6.7 trillion ($10.8 trillion), according to the latest world wealth report from Merrill Lynch and Capgemini.

ARTICLES MANIA ? Seed Venture Capital

A business funding that is eco-friendly and is good for the earth is called Green Venture Capital. The concept behind the name is that funding at the stating phase is like a seed that is about to develop. Before a venture starts to receive income, the product or service offered would need extensive studies thus needing a minimal amount only. The seed fund is needed until the company starts to make money and be noticeable to capitalists. As they say, high risk investments also possess high returns, one example of which is a seed venture capital.

Old and conventional investors would see businesses like these to be a dangerous investment. Business men that are willing to put in money to the business is also an option for the business owners. They are known as such because they often invest in risky, unproven business ventures for which bank loans and formal venture capital companies are not providing. Banks and SBA credit loans typically require that a business should be in operation for at least two to three years, completed and audited financials, revenues, profits, high cash reserves; high personal net worth of the executives, personal guarantees, etc. Banks are very meticulous in choosing where to invest their money and would give the new company a hard time.

In comparison with other industries, green venture capital from investors are given on a later event rather than in the beginning of the operations to ensure profitability of the company.A typical Angel investor has high net-worth assets and has interest and knowledge in a particular business sector, often the industry he or she gained personal affluence. Some are successful business owners looking to invest in new businesses to expand their investing careers. A report that would state the pros and cons of the business venture financially speaking is supplied to the investors. The product model is shown to the investors at some instances.

Typically, the investors would have a share to the company?s income as well as responsibilities if he would put in money to the business. In order to protect the idea or the product that is being presented to the investors, a contract would be accomplished by the business owners before it is shown to them.

A new start up company that has vision of manufacturing a green product line will usually prepare a Feasibility Study along with the business structure and outline of the company.Unlike Seed Venture Capital which does not necessarily involve a large amount of money. A typical venture capital could get a huge sum of support from investors in contrast to seed venture capital who has not yet gained any reputation from the industry.

Some Tips for Educational Toys That Will Stimulate and Also Teach ...

When a child is very young, their minds are very impressionable, they learn by what they see and touch. This is why children must be taught correctly at a very young age in order to give them the advantage they will need when they arrive at school age.

From the time your child is born, their minds are like clay and must be molded and taught correctly and you can do this with educational toys for an infant to six months old. These types of toys are made with an infant in mind. They are made of bright colors so that they will catch their eyes and gain their interest. They also sport large buttons and handles so that an infant can easily grasp and push them. These types of toys generally teach simple things like animal sounds, counting, and simple spelling. They are made of child safe materials because we all know how infants like to put things in their mouths!

From six to eighteen months the educational toys start to get a little more complicated and are not only geared towards teaching your child sounds and spelling but they are also geared towards getting your child?s motor functions established like walking, talking, pushing, and riding. The toys at this stage are still very colorful and large to grab the child?s interest while making them easy to handle and safe.

At eighteen to thirty six months, educational toys now start to get a little more compact as the child?s motor skills should now be improving. While yet still colorful, the toys get a bit more complicated with more gadgets and smaller buttons. Electronic and video learning games are available at this stage. These games are geared towards teaching the child how to spell simple words and to do easy math, getting your child ready for preschool. Toys at this stage start to mimic gadgets that are used in everyday life.

At three to five years of age and older, these toys are now mostly electronic and are geared towards making sure your child is ready for school. Most of them are designed around cartoon and action characters to keep the child?s interest. At this stage as the child should be speaking, the toys are now geared towards having the child spell simple words and put together simple sentences, these could be simple toys that just spell words or a reading book that teaches the child to spell and read at the same time. There are also toys that teach the child simple adding and subtracting using objects. There are also toys that will spur the creative side of your child like children?s digital cameras that will allow your child to explore their creative side by taking pictures and movies that they can upload to the computer and web to share with friends and family.

It is essential that educational toys are made available to young children. While they teach them, they also allow them to grow and establish their own personality and explore their own worlds. These types of toys are what starts an infant off and enables them to become self-starters and well rounded adults. A child who is deprived of these types of toys is only destined for a life of hardship because their minds have not been developed, as they should have been. So give your child the head start that they deserve so very much. Purchase them some educational toys from vtech toys and get them started on their way!

AP Enterprise: A fight over a girl, and God's law (AP)

MONTPELIER, Vt. ? Lisa Miller's path from lesbian in committed relationship to international fugitive started in 2003.

She broke up with her partner, Janet Jenkins, renounced homosexuality and became an evangelical Christian before disappearing in 2009 with the daughter she had with Jenkins.

Now, what started as a custody battle over little Isabella Miller-Jenkins has turned into a global manhunt, with indications that Mennonite pastors and other faith-based supporters may have helped hide the two in Nicaragua and are now coming to the aid of one who the FBI says helped Miller.

Eager to keep the girl away from Jenkins and what they consider a dangerous and immoral lifestyle, they liken their roles to that of underground helpers aiding runaway slaves.

"God's Holy Law never recognizes a gay marriage," said Pablo Yoder, a Mennonite pastor in Nicaragua, in an email message to The Associated Press. "Thus, the Nicaraguan Brotherhood felt it right and good to help Lisa not only free herself from the so called civil marriage and lesbian lifestyle, but especially to protect her nine year old daughter from being abducted and handed over to an active lesbian and a whole-hearted activist."

As the gay marriage movement gains momentum in the U.S. with impending legal recognition of the relationships in New York state, the case is a reminder of the obstacles and opposition that same-sex couples and their families can face.

The saga began in 2000, when Miller and Jenkins were joined in a civil union in Vermont. Two years later, Miller gave birth to the girl, through artificial insemination. The couple split in 2003, with Miller renouncing her homosexuality and becoming a Baptist, then a Mennonite.

Miller was originally granted custody of the girl, but her defiance of visitation schedules led courts in Vermont and Virginia to rule in favor of Jenkins, culminating in a judge's 2009 decision to award custody to Jenkins.

After Miller and the girl failed to show for a court-ordered custody swap on Jan. 1, 2010, to hand the girl over to Jenkins, the hunt was on. A federal arrest warrant was issued for Miller, and her daughter's name was added to the missing by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

But they were long gone: In 2009, two months before the judge ordered the custody change, Miller and the girl flew to Central America and took up residence for an unknown amount of time in Nicaragua before vanishing again.

So says the FBI, which revealed in April that it had arrested Nicaraguan missionary Timothy David "Timo" Miller and charged him with abetting an international kidnapping by helping arrange travel and lodging for the two. He is awaiting trial.

According to the FBI, Timo Miller ? no relation to Lisa Miller ? arranged to fly Miller and her daughter from Canada to Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua.

He'd never met her until they arrived at the airport, according to Loyal Martin, a friend of Timo Miller's.

Timo Miller has pleaded not guilty and is free on $25,000 bail, awaiting trial. His attorney, federal public defender Steven Barth, won't discuss the case. Another lawyer for Timo Miller, Jeffrey Conrad, of Lancaster, Pa., didn't respond to a request for comment.

"Tim believes there is a higher law than the laws of any country that all people, including himself, are accountable to," said Martin, 40, of Philadelphia, N.Y., who attended Miller's first court appearance.

In an April 1 affidavit outlining the charge against Timo Miller, FBI agent Dana Kaegel noted the involvement of various religious groups and people involved ? in some fashion ? with Miller.

At a minimum, she appears to have had the support in the Mennonite community outside the capital of Managua.

Yoder, who works the remote village of Waslala, 161 miles from Managua, told The Associated Press she celebrated her daughter's birthday in his house last year. He wouldn't say more.

"She came here to have a good time, and we allowed her to celebrate her daughter's birthday in my house because of the love we have for the girl," Pablo Yoder said.

Yoder, who is mentioned in the FBI's affidavit over an email exchange with Timo Miller planning the party, told the AP in an interview he couldn't remember how long she stayed. She slept at the house of another pastor, according to Yoder, who would not name that person for fear it would lead to questioning by police.

Members of the church made a pact not to reveal any details to protect Timothy David Miller.

"We want to remain silent because we do not know whether it would cause him problems," Yoder said. "The moment may arrive when we are going to want to talk, when we deem it necessary to tell Nicaragua the true story."

Nicaraguan police haven't questioned Yoder and other members of his church, he said in an interview last month.

"They know we are not involved in this matter," said Yoder, who likens the help given to Lisa Miller to aid given by Mennonites and Quakers to the aid abolitionists gave runaway slaves.

Richard Huber, of Myerstown, Pa., a friend of Timo Miller's who agreed to assume custody of him after his first court appearance, sees Timo Miller's actions as faith-based.

"Choosing to heed God's law over man's would be an accurate way of putting it," he said in an email message.

Miller may have gotten help from others drawn to her predicament for religious reasons.

The lawyer for Miller's ex-partner, Janet Jenkins, told the FBI she got a call in June 2010 from someone ? she won't say who ? who told her that Lisa Miller and the girl had stayed in a beach house in coastal San Juan del Sur, about 68 miles south of Managua.

The house is owned by Philip Zodhiates, the father of Liberty University law school administrative assistant Victoria Hyden, according to the FBI. Jenkins' attorney, Sarah Star, told the FBI that the caller told her Zodhiates had asked his daughter to put out a request for supplies for Lisa Miller.

Located in Lynchburg, Va., Liberty University was founded by the late Rev. Jerry Falwell. An affiliate of the university, conservative Christian law firm Liberty Counsel, formerly represented Miller in her court case in Vermont over custody of the girl.

Law school dean Mathew Staver ? who leads Liberty Counsel ? has said Zodhiates isn't affiliated with either.

"From our perspective, she just dropped off the face of the Earth. We haven't heard from her or from anyone who said they've heard from her," Staver said of Lisa Miller.

Miller, 42, is wanted by the FBI and Interpol, which recently requested the help of Nicaraguan police in the search. U.S. Embassy officials in Nicaragua said they don't know where she is.

"We have clues, but we do not want to reveal them so as not to hinder our investigation," Fernando Borge, spokesman for the Nicaraguan national police, told the AP last month. "We can't say either, at the moment, whether she is or is not in the country."

A security guard at the hotel Royal Chateau in San Juan del Sur, Juan Garcia, told the AP last month he remembered seeing Miller and her daughter seated along the waterfront.

Back in Vermont, Jenkins waits for word on their whereabouts, a break in the case ? or both.

"It is hard to understand how anyone could consider a childhood on the run better and more stable than one surrounded by family, with two parents and two sets of grandparents who can provide love and support," Jenkins, who declined to be interviewed for this story, said in an email.

Timo Miller, meanwhile, awaits trial on the abetting count, which could send him to prison for three years. For now, he and his wife and their four children are staying in Pennsylvania, with Huber.

Supporters have rallied to Timo Miller's his side. At his April 25 court appearance in federal court in Burlington, Vt., dozens of supporters turned out.

More than $30,000 has been raised for his legal defense fund, and donors have provided he and his family with a minivan and an apartment, according to http://www.timomiller.org, the Timothy Miller Family Support Network's website.

"When Isabella was about 18 months old, Lisa Miller realized the emptiness of her lesbian lifestyle, and her mother's instinct alerted her to the danger that lifestyle posed for her young daughter. She chose to leave that lifestyle, repented of her immoral ways, and began a new life," according to the website.

Star calls Miller's actions kidnapping. She doesn't buy the idea of civil disobedience.

"My understanding is that civil disobedience is an act of defiance against a government. Janet Jenkins is not the government, she is a mother who is worried sick about her daughter."

Future of Air Travel: Airbus Predicts 'Transparent' Airplanes, 9 Billion Customers, By 2050 (Time.com)

This post is in partnership with Worldcrunch, a new global-news site that translates stories of note in foreign languages into English. The article below was originally published in Die Welt.

Stale dry air, narrow seats, jammed overhead compartments: today's air passenger has to be a real flying nut to think plane travel is any fun. But engineers at European manufacturer Airbus say they're working on ways to improve things. Implementing the changes will probably take up to four decades, but they assure us the result will be more than worth the wait.

Flying in 2050 is going to be a real pleasure, the manufacturer says, with a 360-degree panoramic view whenever the "intelligent cabin membrane" is set on transparent, and a virtual golf course on board. Realistic projects, or overactive imaginations? "Engineers dream too," says Charles Champion, Airbus head of development. The Frenchman also points out that some of those dreams are already being implemented and may be launched in as little as 10 years from now.

One of the new ideas engineers are currently playing with involves harvesting passenger body heat to meet some of the plane's energy needs. Another idea refers to seats being upholstered with self-cleaning fabrics that adapt to each individual body form. (See photos of the "plane of the future.")

The first, business and economy class system would be abandoned: "It's not what people want," Champion says. Instead, there would be individual seating arrangements.

Innovations would by no means stop there. In the "vitalizing zone," for example, the air would be vitamin-enriched, while in the "interaction zone," passengers could enjoy virtual games of golf high up over the clouds, or go shopping and try on the latest fashions in virtual changing cabins. Through the cabin's transparent membrane, passengers would be able to gaze at the mountain peaks below them, and would be given information about the name of each summit and its exact height. State of the art communication with the ground would mean that business people could take part in video conferences at 33,000 feet, and that Mom or Dad could read bed time stories to their kids back home.

This cabin of the future - whose shape was modeled after birds - is part of Airbus's total concept for 2050. CEO Thomas Enders says the company expects the demand for aircraft to go up worldwide despite on-going problems faced by many airlines, particularly in Europe. (See 20 reasons to hate airlines.)

"Air travel continues to hold more long-term growth potential than virtually any other sector," Enders told the German newspaper "Welt am Sonntag." According to Airbus figures, air travel currently makes up 8%, or 580 billion dollars worth of the European gross domestic product. The sector employs 33 million people worldwide.

Airbus engineer Champion says that the three biggest current challenges are "that people want flying to be cheap, efficient and environmentally friendly." The sector has to find satisfactory answers to those demands, which is why flying will probably look completely different a few decades down the road. "By 2050, the sector will be hauling 9 billion passengers around the world," Champion says.

All that additional traffic will be possible thanks to new safety technologies that will enable companies to increase the number of flights fivefold. And instead of flying solo, planes could fly in formation and dock during flights to save on fuel. Airbus developers are even toying with the idea of huge airborne aircraft carriers that passenger planes could land on and be transported by. (See how airlines are cashing in on extras.)

Airbus' visions for airports of the future no longer include gates. Instead, planes would roll right up - subway style - to a station, with passengers boarding quickly through several doors with touch screens for the check in. Luggage would be put on a conveyor and stored in the cabin.

If Champion sees a sticking point, it concerns the airports themselves: "We can come up with all kinds of great stuff, but when a plane has to circle for 40 minutes over Heathrow before landing, a lot of it gets lost."

Marriage & Immigration Law: What you need to Know ? ArticlesChart.org

For you to get married in the united kingdom, UK Immigration formerly required an application for a Certificate of Approval for persons with no legal immigration status in spite of of whether the other partner to the relationship was a holder of settled status or an United kingdom citizen. When the application for a certificate of approval was initially brought in there was a payment payable along with the application form however because of legal challenges to UK immigration law, the government first removed the fee and now applicants only need to complete the form, and provide the required records and post the application form.

The fact that the application is granted doesn?t mean an automatic modification to a persons? immigration status as UK immigration law never intended that the condition would allow any form of legal status on the ?illegal immigrant? eventhough once granted the marriage in itself could be a ground for making an application to the immigration regulators.

The next thing would be for a person to apply for a spousal visa once the marital relationship is finalised. For a spouse that hopes to join either their husband or wife in the United Kingdom there are new English language requirements for visa applicants which was launched in November 2010.

Along with the present prerequisites for a spouse, civil partner, fianc?, fianc?e or proposed civil partner?s wanting to join either their husband, wife or civil partner in the uk. The UKBA has unveiled an further requirement for visa applicants joining their spouse in the United Kingdom. The existing requirements for applicants are that;

? they are coming to live permanently in the UK
? they?re not under 21
? are legally wed to one another or are in a civil partnership recognised in the united kingdom
? that their husband, wife or civil partner is present and settled in the united kingdom
? they both intend to live with each other permanently as husband and wife or as civil partners
? they have met each other previously

Many individuals are convinced that the immigration guidelines are rather rigorous and normally not fair in this area. Even so, believe it or not but immigration marriage scams are not unheard of and take place a lot more than many of us suppose.

An immigration marriage scam or sham marriage, simply is a marriage where the partners are not an actual couple but are going ahead with the wedding so that one of the parties can obtain a visa to allow for them to stay on in the UK.

There can even be quite a lot of revenue involved in immigration marriage scams, with most not too long ago an UNITED KINGDOM vicar being caught up in the act. For that reason, it is easy to undestand that the Home Office enforces such tough immigration marriage policies to make certain that those unions where a visa is provided is a proven relationship ? it is actually not to persecute individuals but simply show those whose marriage is fake.

Any time you plan to lodge an application for a spousal visa or require clarification on things referring to this class, it is far better to speak to an immigration legal representative. An immigration lawyer has experience in immigration law and they are qualified to provide help and recommendations with regards to these matters.

An immigration lawyer can assist you with things like student visas, making marriage, civil partnership, asylum and human rights applications and much more.

An immigration lawyer will take some time to listen to you and understand what you want in order to find an answer to your problems. With expert understanding and advice they will make the difference to your future and will see you throughout your case. All personal private info is discreet and handled with great care. It?s in an immigration lawyer?s interest to tell you what to do and help to see you through your immigration matter.

Salt Lake City Food - Restaurant Reviews: Old Bridge Cafe

Posted // June 24,2011 -

Ibro Sameric is a proud man. He?s proud of his restaurant, proud of the food he serves there, proud of his country, proud of his newly adopted home of Utah and proud of his city of origin: Mostar, which is in Bosnia. That?s where the 13th-century bridge that the Old Bridge Caf? is named for is located. There is a large mural of it on one of the restaurant?s walls, and if you inquire about it, Sameric is quick to bring you a book of photographs and the history of Mostar to peruse. The lean, fit and tanned 53-year-old loves to talk about Bosnia and the food and culture of his homeland. His enthusiasm is infectious, and the food?well, you?re gonna love it. I sure did.

Old Bridge Caf? is, literally, a mom & pop operation; Sameric and his wife, Milojka, run the place. They do all the cooking, all the serving, and Sameric essentially constructed the restaurant from scratch. A lot of sweat went into it?just another thing to be proud of. But, what?s a little hard work when you?ve survived sniper fire and mortar shells in war-torn Bosnia?not to mention food shortages and 60-mile voyages at night through mountain passes to acquire flour and beans to live on? The Samerics came to the United States in 1998, looking to find themselves a better, safer life and educational opportunities for their two daughters. About a year ago, they opened the Old Bridge Caf?.

It?s located just east of the Century 16 theaters in midtown, in a strip mall across from the Rancho Market. Outside are four ?patio? tables that are, essentially, in the parking lot. The restaurant doesn?t look too enticing from the outside, but once seated at a table indoors?surrounded by hand-painted murals and assorted knickknacks and souvenirs from Bosnia?you?ll feel like you?ve been invited to the Samerics? home for dinner. Indeed, Ibro Sameric prides himself on saying that everything on the menu is ?homemade.? And, it sure does taste like it?right down to the phenomenal pita, which he bakes himself. ?It?s no big deal,? he says, ?everyone in Bosnia makes their own pita.? But, this is unlike any pita you?ve ever encountered. Instead of the fluffy, puffy, spongy stuff we?re used to, this pita is rustic, chewy, wholesome and has a little bit of a crust. I may never be able to eat regular pita again.

I used the pita to help soak up some of the broth from a humungous bowl of chicken-noodle soup ($2.99). The menu indicated that this was ?Bosnian-style? soup, and when I asked Sameric what that meant, he just said ?My way.? Well, his way works. The broth was rich and divine, glistening with a little fat on top, brimming with carrots, fideo-type noodles, chunks of dark meat chicken and?this I think is where ?Bosnian-style? comes in?pieces of cauliflower. I?ve never had cauliflower in chicken noodle soup before, but it was really tasty.

An appetizer of spinach- and cheese-stuffed filo dough ($2.49) is easily big enough for two to share. It?s similar to Greek spanakopita, and called zeljanica in Bosnian. It?s approximately a 6-inch-by-5-inch rectangle of filo stuffed with layers of feta, spinach and egg?rich and delicious, if perhaps not ideal for those watching their cholesterol.

You?ll have noticed by now that the prices at Old Bridge Caf? are very reasonable. In fact, I can?t think where you?d find a better bargain on housemade food. We tried the special of the day, which was Bosnian-style goulash, and the large bowl of stew with pieces of that fantastic pita on the side was a mere $5.99. Crazy. To say that this restaurant provides good value is a massive understatement. The goulash was outstanding, but a little different than the classic Hungarian version. For starters, there wasn?t the strong onion flavor, nor as much paprika as you?d expect. But I loved the subtlety of this goulash, a hearty stew of ridiculously tender cubes of chuck, potatoes, carrots and other veggies. Sameric cooks the meat in a pressure cooker, which tenderizes the beef, and prepares the vegetables separately, then combines them so that the veggies don?t turn to mush while the meat cooks. If it?s available when you visit, I highly recommend it.

The Samerics make their own cevapi from scratch. Cevapi is to Bosnia as brats are to Germany or merguez to Morocco?South Eastern European sausages made from minced beef. I?ve never tasted any better than those at Old Bridge Caf?. Each sausage is lean and delectable, about thumb-size, and served with pita. A half-order of five pieces is only $4.99, or you can get 10 pieces for $7.49. Go ahead and spend the extra couple of bucks for the larger portion; the cevapi reheats at home quite nicely.

The most expensive item on the menu is the Balkan platter ($14.99), and it?ll feed a small army. I could barely put a dent in my platter, which consisted of a ginormous shish kebab with grilled beef chunks, chicken and green bell peppers, a small steak, more chicken, three pieces of cevapi, potatoes, basmati-style rice, yogurt dressing and a wonderfully spicy red condiment made from red peppers and eggplant. Needless to say, there were leftovers, which I devoured for lunch the following day. We were too bloated to try the baklava or ?delight? cake, which I hear are also wonderful.

There?s no beer or wine at Old Bridge Caf?, but we tried some Bosnian fruit sodas (blueberry and peach), called Fructal, as well as a caramel-based soft drink known as Cockta. There is also Turkish coffee, cappuccino, espresso and lattes available.

Spawned from a war-torn land, the Old Bridge Caf? is a beautiful diamond in the rough. I, for one, am thrilled the Samerics chose Utah as their new home.

Articles on Investing in Gold: Why It's Still One of Your Top ...

Greece needs more money to pay for its previous loan. Ireland is in financial chaos. Portugal and neighbor Spain are not on stable grounds and could need help. And then there are Italy and Belgium. The European Union is in trouble. Germany and France are helping to pay for the misfortunes in these other countries. Europe is facing significant growth and debt issues.

Then you have the rising inflation in China, where interest rates are edging higher. In China, inflation surged to 5.5% in May, the highest level in about three years. The Chinese central bank has increased the bank reserve ratios in an effort to stall lending. I also expect another interest rate increase to come, the fifth since October 2010. Slowing in China will have an impact on economic growth and other global economies that deal with China, including Europe, India, and the U.S.
Domestically, you have a national debt of over $14.0 trillion and a trillion-dollar deficit. There is an effort to lift the debt ceiling in order to spend more. But many states are struggling to make ends meet and are looking at severe cuts in their state budgets.
Given all of this risk, you should be investing in gold.
Gold is considered a safe-haven play versus that of silver. Investing in gold is a prudent move when the overall market risk rises, like what we are currently witnessing.
On the demand side, China is a significant buyer of gold. This is expected to continue, as the country hoards physical gold in its reserves. India is also a major buyer.
Gold is a limited resource that needs to be found and mined. There is a certain amount of global reserves in the ground, but, after that, there needs to be more exploration.
Gold has rallied in each of the last 10 years and shows a beautiful bullish price chart. My gold advice would be to accumulate gold on weakness.
On the chart, the August Gold traded at a record high of $1,577.70 on May 2. The current chart looks bullish on above-average Relative Strength. There is a ?golden cross? on the chart, with the 50-day moving average (MA) of $1,517 well above the 200-day MA of $1,411.70.
Some pundits have suggested a $2,000 target on gold over the next few years. I even saw a staggering $5,000 price target on gold. Now, the latter may be the extreme, but I feel that gold prices will continue to edge higher, especially if Europe falters.
In the current climate, gold is the best bet, while silver continues to be a trading commodity.
Buy a mixture of exploration-stage gold players and small to large producers. Under this scenario, you can play both the potential aggressive gains of exploration stocks and the steady returns of the large gold producers.

Cultivating a Vegetable Garden | Food and Drink

Raising a vegetable garden is very easy and enjoyable and can also be done with just some useful soil preparing techniques and next deciding on what to plant! Plants demand a effective surrounding full of nutrition and so you will have to do a few things to the soil just before you pick out the vegetables and place them in the earth.

Find where you wish to have your patch and pick a space that getsplenty of heat. Now take into account your temperature and figure out when the season kicks off and is finished. Fill a small mason jar half filled with soil from your garden location and take it to your community greenhouse. The dirt will need to have a appropriate alkalinity or pH to cultivate vegetables correctly so this info is extremely crucial. states have a helpful expansion system which you could consult for a small fee. They can let you know the pH balance and the makeup of your garden soil and also how much of fresh components it contains. This is important, since you will generally ought to add in or remove acid or alkalinity produced by your fertilizer. This may be achieved by adding compost, leaf mold, manure and/or all different types of different products to your soil. You?ll also want to split up the fertilizer and get rid of all the junk that will not work inside of a garden?rocks, clumps of hard dirt, sticks etcetera. Make an effort and get the dirt free using a hoe or shovel, or you could even rent a rototiller but I don?t think it is needed for a small plot. Dig down 10? to 12? inches deep which happens to be generally ample for several vegetables roots.

Whenever deciding on which vegetables to grow, think about yet again the cooperative extension. They will inform you on the weather you live in and what plants will develop best in your state. Move ahead and take it a step further and consider a trip to your local plant and tree nursery once more and ask to get a planting calendar and what grows best. This should instruct an individual when you should place specific vegetables based on your zone and state. In addition talk with neighbors and people in your neighborhood, because this information and facts can be important as growing

Hacker pleads guilty to AT&T iPad breach (AFP)

WASHINGTON (AFP) ? A 26-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to writing the code used to steal email addresses and personal information belonging to 120,000 Apple iPad subscribers from AT&T computer servers.

Daniel Spitler, of San Francisco, entered the guilty plea in a US federal court in Newark, New Jersey, the Justice Department said in a statement.

Spitler, who surrendered to the authorities in January, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to gain unauthorized access to computers connected to the Internet and one count of identity theft, it said.

Each charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison. Sentencing was set for September 28.

"Computer hackers are exacting an increasing toll on our society, damaging individuals and organizations to gain notoriety for themselves," US attorney Paul Fishman said.

"Hacks have serious implications -- from the personal devastation of a stolen identity to danger to our national security," Fishman said.

"In the wake of other recent hacking attacks by loose-knit organizations like Anonymous and LulzSec, Daniel Spitler's guilty plea is a timely reminder of the consequences of treating criminal activity as a competitive sport," he said.

The Justice Department said Spitler had admitted to being a member of Goatse Security, a loose association of Internet hackers.

In June 2010, the hackers attacked AT&T servers and obtained email addresses and other personal information of around 120,000 iPad subscribers to AT&T's 3G service.

They included the email addresses of a number of high-profile iPad users including US business leaders, politicians and military officials.

"The magnitude of this crime affected everyone from high ranking members of the White House staff to the average American citizen," FBI Newark special agent Michael Ward said. "It's important to note that it wasn't just the hacking itself that was criminal, but what could potentially occur utilizing the pilfered information."

Using a script called an "iPad 3G Account Slurper," the Goatse hackers managed to obtain the number used to identify a subscriber on AT&T's network known as the ICC ID, which stands for integrated circuit card identifier.

Until the attack, AT&T automatically linked an iPad 3G user's email address to their ICC ID.

If you keep a check on the online world, you must have come across the very famous word, Internet marketing services or more popularly known as SEO or Search Engine Optimisation. Born in 1995, SEO has come a long way since then and now you can find numerous companies offering Internet marketing services in UK. If we go by the trend, UK is the hottest destination for Internet marketing. Maximum companies or websites across the globe are turning towards the UK for getting their website optimised and to enjoy higher search engine rankings. Search engine marketing in UK has witnessed radical changes and marvellous improvements. The top website marketing company in UK claims to fetch you higher search engine rankings within a few months.

Internet marketing is a slow yet interesting process. It involves patience, research, knowledge, and innovation. Website marketing is basically divided into two parts; those are Organic SEO and In-Organic SEO. It is widely known that Organic SEO usually takes time to come into effect. Whereas, In-Organic SEO shows results faster and swifter. The only difference between the two is cost and flow of process.

Any UK based company offering Internet marketing services, will tell you before hand about the actual timing of your search engine optimisation campaign. Also you can see results in the search engine listings. A long and planned Internet marketing service is completely based on search engine marketing and it takes time. In short, patience is the name of the game. Try to go for the competitive website marketing company in UK, as they are the ones who will not just guide you but take your online business to new heights by boosting your business and increasing traffic to your website. They will even guide you in selecting the best search engine marketing techniques like Paid Inclusion and/or PPC services, traditional SEO, bidding, and many more.

Before beginning with your Internet marketing campaign, try to figure out optimisation time frame. Your website marketing plan is blindly dependent on a number of factors. This will streamline your Internet marketing process and you can enjoy higher rankings and more profound business. Website marketing companies offering Internet marketing services in UK even encourage you to go for Paid Inclusion or PPC bidding. This is proved that PPC shows fast and sooner results than traditional SEO. But it too has got its own limitations. You have to shell out heavy cash on regular basis and there is no guarantee that visitors will come to you instantly.

Some of the popular search engine marketing companies in UK work and offer SEO services differently. The biggest reason to use organic SEO instead of in-organic SEO is that it is a low-cost method to promote your website. Thus, we can say that practice patience while going for your SEO campaign with the chosen website marketing company UK. It may take some time to show results but it will be worth the long term results you reap.
